How Does Pathfinders for Hope Protect Dignity, Consent and Privacy in Referrals?
We ask only what we need, we share a help request with an outside agency only with the person’s OK, and we never sell information. People can see, download, correct or delete what we hold. We have not published a trauma-informed training program or a Lived Experience council, and we do not claim one.
What we do today
These come from our GATEHOUSE Privacy Notice and Terms of Use.
- Your OK first. A help request, and what you tell us in a phone intake, goes only to the Pathfinders for Hope team. We share it with an outside agency only with your OK, to make the handoff.
- You can say less. On phone intake, you can give a temporary label instead of your name. Some questions (substance use, which ID you have, how long you have been without stable housing) are only asked if you choose to answer.
- No selling. We do not sell, rent, trade or use your information for advertising.
- Your information is yours to see. You can see, download, correct or delete it. Email support@pathfindersforhope.org.
- Photos are cleaned. When you upload a JPEG, GATEHOUSE removes the location and camera details inside the file.
- Adults only. GATEHOUSE is for people 18 and older.
- Not an emergency service. In danger, call 911. For suicide or self-harm, call or text 988. For help with shelter, food or services, call (707) 205-7588.
Rules that protect people
Our Terms ban sharing someone else’s private information, including names tied to a situation, addresses, photos, case details, health information, immigration status, criminal history or where someone sleeps. Agencies, outreach workers and volunteers may not post client information on GATEHOUSE at all. The rules also ban harassment and attacks on people for housing status, income, race, disability and other traits.
What agencies see
Public numbers are counts with no names. Small numbers read “fewer than 5”. See How We Will Measure Results.
Choice, not pressure
Joining GATEHOUSE does not enroll you or your agency in the North Bay Pilot. GATEHOUSE does not promise that any agency will help, and listings can be wrong, so call ahead. No one is required to accept a referral, and saying no does not end our help.
What we do not claim yet
- A trauma-informed care training program for staff or volunteers. We have none yet.
- A Lived Experience Advisory Council. We have none yet.
We would rather say this plainly than imply more than we have. If you have lived experience of homelessness and want to shape how we work, write to support@pathfindersforhope.org.
Frequently asked questions

Can I stay anonymous? On phone intake you can use a temporary label instead of your name. Some help may need contact details; we will say so.
Is GATEHOUSE trauma-informed? We have not published a trauma-informed training program, so we do not make that claim. What we publish is above.
Who can see my posts and messages? Profile and posts are seen by other signed-in members. Chat is seen by the people in the chat. See section 4 of the Privacy Notice.
